How to promote your website for free

After your website goes live, your next step is to get your website discovered by potential clientele. To my surprise, this is actually something that a lot of people struggle with - pften we either underpromote or overpromote, but both are equally as ineffective as the other.


Within this value-packed article, I'm going to be giving some tips that you can immediately implement to get people onto your site for free because I understand that as a business owner we don't always have big marketing budgets available - especially when we launch our first-ever website.

Add your website in your social media bios

Adding your website to your company social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest) is a simple yet effective way to promote your website. Did you know that doing this will help your Google ranking?


To demonstrate the power of social media, let's use my own brand search 'High Flying Design' as an example. On the first page of search results on Google, you'll find our website in position no.1 (as it should be), followed by our Pinterest, Trustpilot and Instagram profiles.

Adding your website in your social media bios is a super easy step.. Getting people to click through can be difficult. If you have over 10k followers on Instagram, utilise the swipe up feature in your stories to encourage people to browse your website. On Facebook, start engaging and sharing your website in the Facebook Groups where your target audience hang out.



Add a link to your website in your email signature

An email signature gives the perfect opportunity to brand every message you send. It establishes and reinforces who you are as a company. To give the person on the other end of your email the opportunity to learn more about your business, leave a clear link to your website.

Take advantage of your existing mailing list

Email marketing allows you to build relationships with potential, current and past customers. It's your opportunity to speak directly to them in their inbox, at a time that is convenient for them. Coupled with the right messaging, email can become one of your most impactful marketing channels.


If you've already got an email list filled with all of your existing clients, now is the perfect opportunity to send out an email campaign to everyone telling them about your new launch and the customer benefits that come along with that! Scream and shout about how it'll be easier to view your services, book in and get in touch.



Submit your website to online directories

Listing your website on an online directory like Google My Business or Free Index (dot) co (dot) uk will go a long way in helping improve your online presence. It is not that internet users will conduct searches on these directories (though a small probably will), but it will be counted by search engines.


For most businesses, it's also beneficial to add your website to review sites like Trustpilot and begin collecting reviews at different points of your customer journey.
